Expecting around 100,000 people to turn out for the final event Saturday night, organizers thought they would see at least a quarter of that leading up to the finals on Friday night.  With Arkells shutting down Victoria Avenue to play a street concert, there was supposed to be more people I was told.  Walking around the finish line of the Crashed Ice course Friday night it was sort of a ghost town, with more Red Bull reps then consumers to market to – it was really weird.

My thoughts?  Niagara Falls is not ready for this sort of thing; locals of the area stay away from any sort of action down by the Falls (for the most part) they would rather be warm and watching it at home then caught up in the craziness.  Saturday night looked to be what was expect as the flocks of people flooded the streets to get a good spot on the side of the Crashed Ice track, but even then the trickles slowed.  Announcers said they estimated about 60-70,000 people showed up for the finals on Saturday evening, but even those numbers were inflated.  The final count?  30,000 in attendance Saturday night at Niagara Falls – Red Bull Crashed Ice, needless to say these are not good numbers when they are expecting 100,000+!

When I got a chance to speak with a Reb Bull spokesperson they told me, “it is to early to tell any numbers and if we will be back in Niagara Falls for Crashed Ice again.”

BKR Entertainment will be in the middle of all the action this weekend in Niagara Falls for Red Bull Crashed Ice!  Lining up a couple interviews and going to scope the scene and the masses of people attending the event.  A event of this capacity hitting the city of Niagara Falls is rare, growing up in the city we never had events like this.  It is great to see a city was such potential doing things to bring money and opportunity to the communities.  The whole reason I ventured off to Toronto to study and work in Entertainment is because Niagara Falls did not offer up any atmosphere or opportunity for me to learn the in’s and out of the industry.  I am proud to have the chance to attend this event and see exactly what it does for the city of Niagara Falls.  From the top of the Skylon Tower to the finish line, we will be covering all aspects of the event(s)!
